One is a postcard ca. 1910 titled 'East Lexington.' It shows House Mountain in the distance and the Maury River downstream from East Lexington, Virginia. The two other images are duplicate contemporary 8x10 black and white photos of House Mountain printed from the original negative made by photographer Michael Miley, c. 1885 - 1900.

James McDowell Papers
This collection consists of three documents: a land survey, Oct. 27, 1795, of 624 acres on the Big Calf Pasture River in Rockbridge County, Virginia; deed of trust between William Moore and Andrew Reid, Jr. in favor of McDowell, Oct. 8, 1804; deed of 29 1/2 acres on South River from David, an emancipated slave, and McDowell, Dec. 23, 1816. Included in the Control folder is a Thesis by Mary Boyce Hicks, "James McDowell and the Virginia Slavery Debate of 1831-32," Athens, Georgia, 2010.
James McDowell Regimental books
This collection contains James McDowell's regimental manuscript books. The books were kept from August-November 1814 while McDowell served as a Lt. Colonel in the War of 1812. The volumes document various orders related to military appointments, court martials, drills, furloughs, inspections, etc. The first volume includes a roster of officers of the 5th Regiment of Virginia Militia. Most of the pages in this volume are blank.
James Monroe Papers
This collection includes the appointment, July 29, 1800, of John Bowyer, Andrew Reid, and John Caruthers as presidential electors; proclamation, March 16, 1802, by Gov. Monroe authorizing the meeting house outside Lexington, Va. as a proper place for holding court (2 copies); and U.S. land grant of 160 acres, April 2, 1818, to Aaron Sanford. All of these documents are signed by Monroe.

He mentions the election of John Letcher to the office of Governor for the Commonwealth of Virginia, and expresses a favorable opinion of him. This collection consists of a single ledger kept by John Henry Boswell Jones between 1891-1892. It was used to record business transactions for goods sold and purchased by local farmers and merchants. The ledger also lists the names and classes of the 28 students Jones taught during this time. Local names include McClung, Smiley, Riley, Wade, Wilson, McFadden, Ervine, Richie, Brooks, Martin, Terrell, Humphries, Jones, Hotinger, and Leaver.
